Island Woodcarving Hawaii Master Carver, Kalolo Tangatailoa
Master Carver Kalolo Tangatailoa is well known as one of Maui's best. He was born in the island of Tonga, and moved with his family to Maui, Hawaii in 1975. He was taught by his grandfather, and learned to master his craft. With over 50 years of carving experience, he's passed on his craft to his sons to carry on the family tradition. Centered in Lahaina and the other West Maui communities, Island Wood Carving Hawaii is now established as a respected family owned, and family run business.
Kalolo and his sons can carve simple extraordinary sculptures, including all styles of tikis (from Hawaii, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Maori, and any other Island in the South Pacific), Ocean Life, Animal Life, Images, Canoes, Walking Sticks, Wall hanging Scenes, full life sculptures, furniture pieces, and more. Carvings may be as small as 5 inches up to as big as 8 feet or bigger if you like. All pieces are artistically carved by hand. We can usually accommodate special requests and commissioned sculptures.
